event in Vero Beach.

“The Mental Health Association (MHA in Indian River County (a United Way Agency), is preparing to unveil two more TurtleTrax turtles and this event will feature a world wide known pop artist’s work. The unveiling will take place at the Sunset Saturday Night Jazz Concert on Ocean Drive in Vero Beach on August 13 at 7 p.m. It was originally scheduled for July 9th and was postponed due to poor weather conditions.

John’s Island Real Estate Company, the presenting sponsor of TurtleTrax, and sponsor of the two new turtles, announces artist Romero Britto as the artist for one of their two 6’ fiberglass structures. Romero Britto’s work has been gaining recognition since his first Absolute Art Campaign in 1989 and he continues to excel in the art community.  Through his vibrant colors, playful themes and hard-edged compositions, Britto captures the attention of both youthful spirits and educated art collectors.  Easily recognized, Britto’s work is unmistakable bold, modern, and colorful.  His style combines the mass cultural references of Pop Art with the intricate compositional qualities of cubism.  Most distinctive is the incorporation of his Britto signature as a design element.  Britto exhibits his work in over 150 galleries including his own Gallery on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, Florida and San Paulo, Brazil.  Britto appeared in April on NBC’s “The Apprentice” when the Hanes T-Shirt task incorporated an original design to commemorate fifty years of t-shirts being cool. The second turtle, to be unveiled during Sunset Saturday Night, has been painted by several students from St. Edwards School.

Serving to raise funds for MHA programs and services to help provide guidance at getting over life's hurdles, TurtleTrax will also benefit other charities, plus the business, artistic, municipal, and educational sectors of our community, as they will be integrally involved throughout the event.  Sponsored by local businesses, each of 50 sea turtles are in process of being decorated by local artists and will be on display at businesses and in prominent locations throughout Indian River County from now until March 31, 2006. TurtleTrax will culminate with a Gala Live Auction on April 8, 2006.
