Judy Collins
Concert Tickets on Sale for Mental Health Association Fundraiser
Riverside Theatre will be the site for
“An Evening with Judy Collins,” on Saturday evening April 5th. Ms
Collins has thrilled audiences worldwide for more than 40 years with her
unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes. On
April 5th, the songstress will thrill Treasure Coast audiences when she
performs in concert to benefit the Mental Health Association in Indian
River County, Inc.
In her new show, “An Evening with Judy
Collins,” which opened to audiences at the Café Carlyle in New York City
in January, she alternates between playing the guitar and piano,
singing, reminiscing and reflecting in the one-woman show she has been
preparing for the last several years. Audiences will quickly discover
that Ms. Collins creates music that speaks to hope and healing, that
lights up the world and speaks to the heart. It parallels her feelings
pulled from the pages of her memoir, Sanity and Grace.
Ms Collins's deeply moving memoir
chronicles her journey from pain to survival following the suicide of
her son, and offers comfort to those who struggle in suicide's
aftermath. With this book, she breaks down the barriers of helplessness
and secrecy to openly discuss the aftereffects of suicide, and explains
how she found a path to hope and clarity. She extends her hand to
comfort other survivors whose lives have been affected by similar
tragedy. It was Ms. Collins’s personal experience with a mental health
issue as paramount as suicide that catapulted the Mental Health
Association into utilizing her story and her talents as their premier
fundraiser of the year.
