The Holiday Turtle WALK-A GIFT for Indian River County

Vero Beach, FL - December 2, 2005-  The Official Unveiling of the entire flock of Mental Health Association’s TurtleTrax turtle sculptures will be held at the “Holiday Turtle Walk,” Saturday, December 3, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The event will be held in the garage behind the yellow Park Place Building on Ocean Drive in Vero Beach, across from Humiston Park in Vero Beach. To see all these turtles together in one location is an awesome sight, and photography is welcome and encouraged.

A selection from the 52 turtles on display at the Turtle Walk will be presented on a float in the annual Vero Beach Christmas Parade that evening beginning at 6pm on Ocean Drive.  All turtles will be delivered to their individual sponsor locations for display December 4-March 31, 2006.  A turtle locator map will be handed out for a future visit to the turtle sites.

The MHA’s Commemorative Book “Overcoming Life’s Hurdles with Turtles” will also be on sale at the Turtle Walk with some of the participating artists available for signings. Designed by the award-winning marketing and communications firm, DHI, with vibrant color images by local photographer Jon Pine, the TurtleTrax© commemorative book captures the magnificent sea turtle sculptures for $34.95. Other select retail partners include Vero Beach Book Center, Cravings, Beached Whale, Beach News Center, Chez Moi at The Village Shops, as well as the gift shops at the Vero Beach Art Museum, Environmental Learning Center and McKee Botanical Gardens.

The TurtleTrax program combines the beauty of public art with raising funds and awareness for the programs and services provided by the Mental Health Association, A United Way Agency.  The Mental Health Association is Indian River County’s only nonprofit resource for immediate access to crisis counseling and mental health solutions regardless of ability to pay.
