The Mental Health Association’s
TurtleTrax promotion has hit a grand slam now that the Dodger’s Great
Turtle has bee unveiled to the public. The Dodger Greats game, held
on Thursday, November 1, was the scene of the unveiling.
Painted by an out-of-state
artist, the 6’ white fiberglass turtle replica has had additional
fiberglass molding fit to the statue showcasing a ball and glove
molded to one hand, a Dodger baseball cap molded to the turtle’s head,
and a number of baseballs added to the pedestal of the structure. The
turtle itself is painted with an official Dodger uniform and
autographed by forty-two of the Dodger Great ball players.
The Mental Health Association’s
(MHA) TurtleTrax program, (presented by John’s Island Real Estate
Company), is a combination of fundraising and public art display that
is directly tied to lending community awareness of the MHA services.
The Dodger Greats turtle will be on display from December 4 until
March 31, 2006 by the entrance to Homan Stadium.
